Who is Ami Elsius?

If you mix Indiana Jones, James Bond, Tarzan and Buddha, exchange the guns for cameras and mould it in a feminine shape… yes, I guess you could describe me like that.

 

Photography

Photography is not just my profession; it’s a lifelong passion and lifestyle… a reason, a tool and entry ticket in to unique situations, groups, cultures and places.

Through photography I get to express, experience and develop the things that I value most in life; love, beauty, creativity, discovery, understanding, connection, sharing, sensitivity, patience, meditation, gratitude, sensuality, revelation and play.

Here you can follow my work as a photographer, with lots of tips and tutorials for booth the amateur and the pro. You will also find info on and materials from the talks and workshops that I hold. My work is mainly dedicated to fashion and advertising often travel related, often with a fine art touch and with people in focus.

 

Travel

Family and friends call me a globetrotter, an explorer and a bon vivant. Fact is that I am more of a “stayer” or a returnee than a traveller; curious by nature, I always want to find out what everyday life is like in different places…. now that takes a bit of time, especially since there are many different types of everyday lives in any given place.

Originally from Sweden I have lived on 4 different continents (so far) and am now based in Milan, Italy.

I have a soft spot for tropical island hideaways, great food and fantastic spas and retreats (I used to work as a spa manager). Dreamers, curious connoisseurs and genuine travellers will find themselves lucky here, as I will generously share my gems, experiences and warnings.

 

Adventure

I don’t go looking for adventure, but adventure has a tendency to find me, as well as the local wildlife… which is not always of the cute cuddly version. Fortunately I am blessed with a very competent team of guardian angles.

If you have a weak stomach, are squeamish or prudish, you might find some parts of this blog a bit challenging… but don’t be surprised if you can’t stop reading anyway. I have warned you!

From good old campfire stories to profound ponderings and life changing experiences. You will often find that my blog entries contain elements of booth travel, adventure and photography.
